"Women's issues and body issues have plagued me my whole life. I've never felt beautiful enough and my self criticism has always kept me from being my truest self. I started this series as a way to see myself in a different light. To appreciate myself in my rawest state. I hope to bring awareness to the truth that regardless of how other people see you, your thoughts of yourself may not reflect the thoughts of others." - Callie

"This age of technology promotes a disconnect from real interaction. It can become a crutch in lonely times, a mind numbing escape from the loneliness I often feel." - Callie

"I reflect on my life a lot while I'm in bed. Mostly about my deep desire for partnership and connection. I often fall into a sad state of longing."  - Callie

"I've been really hard on myself about my body my whole life. When I was 10, I turned into a woman in one summer, my body couldn't catch up to my growth and it left me with deep red stretch marks on my hips and breasts. From then, until at least 25, I would never wear a bathing suit without shorts or change in front of family or friends. So many women have stretch marks, and now as they've faded in my 31 years, I try to embrace my body without judgement. It's a work in progress." - Callie

"Though I do find the beginning of the project, with myself as the first subject, a bit self-gratuitous. I could never ask this of someone without baring myself and my issues. And as I continue to shoot other women, I realize our general reaction is similar, we all have struggles seeing ourselves as beautiful." - Callie

"I've spent a lot of my life as a retoucher for other photographers.  I just kind of fell into it.  I loved photography, and I loved the dark room and it was an extension of that. I never felt right about it, I never felt right about my contribution to the world. I feel like I'm paying penance for all these years of guilt, and I'm finally contributing something worthwhile." - Callie

"I've been getting a lot of really great feedback for this project, thank you. But, I've been told a couple of times that while the idea and premise of the project is great, I'm too beautiful to be a part of the series. While on one hand, I'm flattered... on the other, this project isn't just about not wearing makeup... It's about our insecurities, our obligations, even our bad habits... Regardless of how other people see you, you may not see yourself in the same light. This is something women live with daily, regardless of how classically beautiful they are." - Callie
